Teamwork and laughter were the order of the day during a high-energy, action-packed session of laser tag fun. The event was organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and hosted by ZAPT Laser Tag Cambridge. Five siblings took part, and they were either bereaved or those with a brother or sister receiving care at Milton.
The day began with a safety briefing, and then the children enjoyed a fun-filled laser tag session, playing a variety of interactive games in two teams. The day gave the children the chance to have fun and make new friends in the beautiful surroundings of Milton Country Park. After tucking into pizza and potato wedges, the group headed back to the hospice.
Beth Walthew, Owner of ZAPT Laser Tag, said: “We were very happy to gift this laser tag session to EACH. It does such amazing work in our region, and it was great to welcome the siblings. It was our pleasure, and I hope they enjoyed their time with us.”
Meanwhile, little ones enjoyed songs, stories and crafts during two seaside-themed sessions organised by EACH.
They were for youngsters receiving care at Milton, along with their siblings and families, and musical highlights included ‘I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside’ and modern classics ‘Under the Sea’ and ‘Baby Shark’.
The sessions were led by Groups and Events Co-ordinator Ceri Dobson, who provided vocals, and Music Therapist Katherine Walters, who played the piano and percussion. Senior Carer Ben Goddard played the guitar and enthralled the children by performing ‘Surfin’ USA’.
“These sessions are lovely to put on and so interactive for the children,” said Ceri. We even had a jellyfish sensory umbrella, and they enjoyed decorating fish, crabs and jellyfish for our ‘We’re Going on a Whale Hunt’ story.”
The session ended with bubbles, a calming parachute game to depict the waves and a goodbye song.
Milton’s Songs and Stories sessions are held during school holidays, where families can stay and have lunch after the morning session or cake and refreshments during the afternoon.
